Live Phytoplankton - Six Species Blend

Phytoplankton is the basic building block of the ocean food chain. It adds biodiversity to your tank, while directly feeds corals, clams, copepods and other filter feeders. The copepods and other microfauna which feed on our live phytoplankton will in turn become food for your fish and corals.

Our live phytoplankton blend contains six different strains of phyto to provide balanced and well rounded nutrition for your tank’s inhabitants. Corals are like all other animals - they need a wide variety of minerals, vitamins, and fatty acids for optimal health. Simply feeding one or two species of phyto won’t provide the diversity of nutrients that our six species blend offers.

Our phytoplankton should be stored in the refrigerator and given a gentle shake every couple days. If stored like this, it should last at least two months.

Dinkins Aquatic Gardens live phytoplankton consists of the following strains of phyto:

Nannochloropsis
Tetraselmis
Pavlova
Isochrysis galbana
Thalassiosira weissflogii
Phaeodactylum tricornutum

We recommend dosing 1ml per gallon of tank volume every day or every other day. Please turn off your skimmer for an hour while dosing live phyto. We recommend buying enough phyto for at least a month.
